OdorHog Mushroom Cap Vent Filter

The OdorHog Mushroom Cap is made of charcoal gray, heavy duty PVC with three self-tapping metal screws to provide a secure fit on the top of the OdorHog filter. The Mushroom cap is our best value with an all-weather cap that provides excellent venting. It stands up to UV rays, hail and snow (shedding deep snowfall off the cap and onto the roof, where it belongs).

Like all of our OdorHog filters, the body of the filter is available in White PVC or Black ABS. We recommend the ABS models for locations that have potential for subzero temperatures.

The plastic Slip-on models need no tools or glue to install – they slip right over the vent pipe on the roof. If you have metal or cast iron pipes choose the Clamp-on model. A flathead screwdriver or a 5/16\" nut driver is all you need to install this unit.

Each OdorHog has a replaceable mesh bag inside the body with long-lasting, pelletized charcoal activated for the H2S molecule. Changing your charcoal out has never been easier and can be done while the OdorHog remains on the vent pipe! Just remove the cap, pull the old charcoal bag out by the handle, seat the new bag and put the cap back on. Fresh charcoal in minutes!

OdorHog filters are designed for passive or ambient air flow, and are not suitable for applications where blowers or fans push or force air through the filter.

Standard vs. Commercial Charcoal

The difference between the standard and commercial charcoal is the base material used. Standard is made from a wood base, and our commercial grade charcoal is made from a coconut shell based carbon that has a higher sewer gas absorption capacity and is made for longer life. It is perfect for heavy hydrogen sulfide applications or for difficult access situations.

Commercial charcoal is commonly used for restaurants, schools, strip malls, etc. It's also becoming more popular with residential customers who have steep pitched rooflines or don't want to change out their bag as frequently.

Both versions are pelletized for longer life and better air flow. The filter housing is the same for both versions. For example, if you purchased the standard charcoal OdorHog and found it didn't last as long as you would like, you can purchase a commercial grade replacement bag and it will fit into the body of the OdorHog and last longer.
